In late November, our hardworking (and well deserving!) Advertising and Sponsorship Manager, Chelsea Hall, was lucky enough to spend two dreamy nights at one of Tasmania’s newest luxurious accommodation offerings, The Retreat at Pumphouse Point. Designed by award-winning Tasmanian architecture firm JAWS Architects, The Retreat is a truly breathtaking space hidden in the bushland on the edge of Lake St Clair, that perfectly balances luxury and relaxation.

After a couple of sick kids thwarted a previously-scheduled trip to Tassie earlier in the year, Chels was first on the list for a weekend away! From farm-to-table dining, to outdoor baths amongst the trees, today she shares her highlights from The Retreat at Pumphouse Point.

For our latest instalment of Design Eye, we head back to the 1980s (yes!) with expert insight from award-winning Melbourne interior designer Mardi Doherty of Doherty Design Studio.

Mardi is known for her colourful, personality-filled residential projects, which always find the perfect balance between super lux, yet relaxed and liveable style.  Lately, Mardi and her team have found much inspiration in the 1980s, with its bold colour, abstract shapes, and chunky, curvy furniture forms.

Other than new-ish laminate floors and a bathroom renovated in around 1998, the Ringwood North home of Rebecca Karagiorgos was untouched since its construction in the 1970s. You would have no idea from looking at it now!

Over the last 12 months, the influencer, fashion designer and director of Twice Blessed and By Twice Blessed embarked a top-to-toe renovation of a two-bedroom unit with her husband. Using Reece products, an impeccable eye for style and a whole lot of moodboards, it’s a total transformation!

In 2017, Rebeka Morgan and Kribashini Hannon (a builder and project manager respectively) launched BuildHer Collective, a series of online courses, webinars and workshops to help women navigate the ins and outs of the construction industry, with the end-goal of renovating their own houses. Their growing community has become an indispensable resource for demystifying the construction process, and injecting some female energy into a male-dominated industry!

The pair’s new book strengthens this wealth of tools and information, diving deep into the mechanics of building or renovating a project of your own. If you’re into home makeovers (and if you’re here, then chances are you are!), then there’s little doubt you’ve heard of Three Birds Renovations. Comprising creative director, Bonnie; marketing director, Lana; and operations director, Erin, the three best friends and business partners have been project managing renovations and new builds in their signature light, coastal aesthetic since 2014.

This is House Thirteen, the sprawling family home of Three Birds designer, Louisa, on a vacant acreage in bushy Annangrove (42 kilometres north-west of Sydney’s CBD). Previously a rundown terrace, the owner (also the interior and landscape designer!) Natalie Watson has turned this inner city home into a beautifully detailed space to suit tourists and staycationers.

This spectacular new home in Bellevue Hill takes ‘swoon worthy’ to new heights, with its unbelievable views of Sydney’s skyline, and incredible combination of cosy, luxe interiors, and expansive outdoor spaces.
